Welcome to Fang Research Group at Michigan State University! Our research broadly covers the topics of designing and developing new materials, materials synthesis processes, advanced manufacturing approaches, and multiscale characterization methods to understand and engineer next-generation high-performance energy storage and conversion systems, with a vision to develop sustainable energy-environment nexus, and solve the challenges faced by the rising urbanization with forward-looking, progressive, and resource-efficient innovations to maintain a high quality of life.

Lab Openings

Fang Group attending MRS Spring 2026 in Honolulu, April. 2026. Dr. Fang organized the Symposium EN04-'Bridging Fundamental and Applied Research to Accelerate Commercialization of Battery Materials and Technologies'.
